Hello Rangelost, I was playing around with the themes in the config options, and I've come to believe the defaults aren't the optimal ones. Currently, the Novel background theme (mostly brown) and Fantasy colour theme (mostly dark blue) are the defaults. However, I recall the Dark background theme (or some variant, particularly the pixelated background) was once the default background theme. Right now, I feel Fantasy clashes with Novel because Fantasy has the post background in deep blue, while the page background and the UI at the top are brown. To me, it feels like Evening is the colour theme that pairs best with Novel, while Dark is what pairs best with Fantasy, since these are the combinations where the top UI/background agrees with the post background. For the record, I have always been an Evening fan, and now even more so when paired with Novel. The colors are quite soothing, with that particular shade of brown being quite easy on the eyes. Best, Steady Gaze

The previous default theme used the Dark background with the Fantasy colours. The current default theme uses the Novel background with the Cerulean colours. This is intended as a return to the brown and blue look of the old website (which has since been made into its own theme named Classic). Because of this, there are no plans to change the default theme. Anyhow, I recognize the risks of designing a website that is not greyscale. This is the purpose of the Config screen; tastes are subjective, and no single option is likely to please everyone. That said, if you have ideas for additional colour themes you would like to see, don't hesitate to let me know!
